DERMATOLOGY

Human body is an organic unit, composed of Zang Fu (Organs and Viscera) tissues and special organs. They are inseparable anatomically and mutually dependent and cooperative physiologically. Skin is an important organ of the human body and lies superficially all over the body to maintain the normal activities and safeguards the internal structures from the attack of external evils (pathogen). Therefore, it is very important in maintaining the vital activity of a human being.

Leading to some skin conditions the etiology is very complex; often involving an interaction of external and internal factors and is often associated with family history.

In Chinese Medicine etiology and pathogenesis of skin diseases often involve and included (Externally and Internally, Wind, Cold, Dampness, Dryness, Fire heat, Emotions, Diet, Epidemic Pathogens, Insects and Toxic Substance, Overfatigue and Trauma, Congenital defects).

Featured Topic: Acne

Acne is a disorder of the hair follicle sebaceous glands, consisting of non-inflammatory lesion (open and closed comedones) and inflammatory lesions (papules, pustules and nodules). The maturing sex glands during puberty enhance the secretion of the endocrine system thus leading to hyper steatosis and occlusion of sebaceous glands associated with hair follicles. Many factors are responsible for the development of acne-sebum excretion, androgenic hormones, occlusion of sebaceous glands pores, and infection with Propionibacterium acne. The development of acne is also influenced by genetic factors, gastrointestinal function, environmental factors, cosmetics and emotional factors.

However my many years’ research and experience have revealed that they are other factors will exacerbate Acne condition and they include overeating fats and carbohydrates, hot and spicy food, deep-fried food and lack of sleeping or sleep in.

Psychic trauma and emotional stress can also lead to an attack or exacerbation.

Featured Topic: Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition involving the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin. Rosacea occurs most frequently in middle-aged individual (30 to 50 years old), women more often than men, but also affects young adults and the elderly.

According to western medicine. It is caused by long-term dilation of the local blood capillaries, which is due to dysfunction of the vasomotor nerves.

Predilection for alcohol, indigestion, endocrine imbalance, and persistent external climate acting upon the skin, like working under high temperature, sunburn, and exposure to wind are all precipitating factors.

However my many years’ research and experience have revealed that there are other factors will exacerbate Rosacea condition and they include strong tea, overindulgence in spicy food or excessively hot or cold food.
